Ensemble Theatre Company Presents its 2007-08 Storybook Theatre Season a Delightful, Illuminating Theatrical Experience for Children.

(Santa Barbara, CA) Ensemble Theatre Company (ETC) of Santa Barbara is pleased to announce its new children's theatre season. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Ensemble's Storybook Theatre will produce two fun-filled shows this season for children kindergarten through 6th grade. The fall 2007 show is a wonderful coming of age adventure set in Sherwood Forest, The Early Adventures of Robin Hood, and the spring 2008 show is an original adaptation of Marguerite W. Davol's classic tale, The Paper Dragon.

Before he was a legend, Robin Hood was just an ordinary boy. Take a journey with him on his very first adventure through Sherwood Forest. At just 11 years old, Robin Hood discovers the very simple truths that would one day make him the most famous Good Samaritan of all time. Friendship, lively music, and colorful costumes make for a positively rollicking medieval time! Written and directed by Storybook Program Director Miller James The Early Adventures of Robin Hood will be open to for the public at the Alhecama Theater, 914 Santa Barbara Street, on Saturday, October 13 and 20 for three shows at 12 PM (noon), 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM. School sponsored field trips to the theater will run between October 8 to 20 and tour dates will be October 22 to November 2, 2007.

The Spring 2008 performance of The Paper Dragon will be performed at the Alhecama Theater on Saturday, April 12 and 19 at 12 PM (noon), 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM. Mi Fei is a humble painter of scrolls in a small Chinese village. The tranquility of the community is threatened when the dragon, Sui Jen, awakens from his 100-year slumber. The villagers know of only one person wise enough to confront the scaly beast - Mi Fei. The power of the artist's vision and the ever-sustaining nature of love are brought together in this magical stage adaptation. Journey with Mi Fei as he discovers that within himself he has power to tame the tricky dragon.School sponsored field trips to the theater will run between April 7 and 19 and tour dates will be April 21 to May 2, 2008.

With the belief that children's lives are transformed through theatre, Ensemble Theatre Company of Santa Barbara (ETC), under the direction of Executive Artistic Director Jonathan Fox, brings a unique vision to the performance of informative, entertaining and original plays. ETC believes that the theatre inspires young people to develop the tools of communication and creativity that engender a deep appreciation of the world.

Ensemble's Storybook Theater for the schools serves over 12,000 elementary students each year, combining pre-production study guides, workshops and post performance discussion of the plays with full production values—sets, costumes and music.
