In the fall of 2009, Ensemble Theatre Company will kick off its third season of Student Matinees, introducing professional theatre to area high school and middle school students. This Series provides a unique educational opportunity for you and your students to attend provocative, high-quality theatre close to home and at an affordable price. The cost is only $10.00 per student and includes free tickets for group coordinators. Prior to the performance, teachers receive a study guide outlining the plays themes, with background information and questions for discussion. After the performance, students may stay for a Q&A with theactors. For many students, this is their first time seeing professional theatre.
The following 2009-10 Season is sure to be exciting and fun.
• SOUVENIR. A wildly funny and touching true story about New York socialite Florence Foster Jenkins, who stunned concert audiences with her tin ear and indomitable self-confidence. Student Matinee: Friday, February 5, 2010 at 11:00 am.
• THE GLASS MENAGERIE. Tennessee Williams’ poetic memory play, in a brand new production. Student Matinee: Friday, April 30, 2010 at 11am.
All performances are at the Alhecama Theatre 914 Santa Barbara Street. This is a great opportunity for students to experience live professional theatre.
